Jessica Devi

Jessica is a Trauma Informed movement and wellbeing practitioner and has been practicing, discovering and studying health through movement, conscious dance and yoga for over 20 years. Jessica is passionate about facilitating a personalised approach for each person in a way that is unique to their body, mind, history and hopes.

Jessica is a sensitive, warm and knowledgeable teacher with a wealth of experience in heath, holistic fitness and well being. Through the integration of mindful movement, breath practices and awareness techniques Jessica will support you to find - not only the best version of yourself but also a life that is deeper and more connected.

"I continue to be inspired by the endless possibility yoga and movement practice presents and have first hand experience in their healing power, both within my own body and mind and the bodies and minds of those I have had the privilege of working with. I truly believe we have the power to heal and transform ourselves; body, mind and spirit and to discover new and more sustainable ways in which to be in our world."

Jessica is drawn to both traditional and modern yoga, dance and movement practices that are sustainable, authentic and therapeutic in nature. She draws from these to create both group and individual classes/sessions in which the emphasis is on listening to our inner wisdom, nourishing our bodies and minds and creating long term, life-sustaining, change, growth and development.

Jessica is available for private, individual, small group or corporate sessions and, as the owner of Yoga Within, teaches many weekly group classes at the studio.

"My own Yoga journey began in the early 90’s while traveling, and spending time in North America.

After returning home from my travels I undertook a 3 year Bachelors degree with a major in Contemporary Dance. The physically and emotionally demanding nature of this course of study required a practice which supported, nourished and refueled my body and mind. Enter.........yoga.

From there I went on to become a 500hr certified yoga teacher, through Ashram Yoga New Zealand, and have completed many trainings, workshops and courses of study in the fields of Yoga, Mindful Movement, Movement Therapy and Trauma Sensitive practices.

I continue to be inspired by the endless possibility yoga and movement practice presents and have first hand experience in their healing power, both within my own body and mind and the bodies and minds of those I have had the privilege of working with. Abbey-Lee McMahon

Namaste, my name is Abbey-Lee. I have been blessed to guide people into discovering their yoga and have been teaching beginners and children for almost 3 years now.

I am passionate about making yoga accessible to everyone and facilitating people through their yoga journey in a gentle open way.

Yoga, for me, is about breath, movement and self growth, it’s non competitive, about being in the moment and creating space in our minds and hearts.

Crystal Kong

Hi, I'm Crystal Huitian Kong.

I started my yoga journey at the age of 18. I still remember how impressive that yoga class was and how joyful I felt afterwards. I felt I had found a door to a beautiful world and had never known there was such a beautiful thing like yoga before then.

I started a constant yoga practice 8 years ago when my son was born. Everything changed once he came into my life! I needed to reconnect to myself and chose yoga. I enjoy conscious breathing and mindful movement and it continues to amaze me how settling the yoga postures (asana) can be.

I trained as a Trauma-informed yoga teacher (RYT200) and am passionate to share my own experience of yoga while supporting people in their own unique journey.

Laura McKenzie

Finding yoga at a challenging point of her life, Yoga became the tool Laura used to lean into and embrace uncertainty. Quickly recognising the shift yoga had on her outlook and understanding of life, she was drawn to teach.

Laura studied Hatha/Vinyasa under the Embodied Flow methodology with Adele Kinghan, and has continued to study, becoming passionate in Non- Dual Shaivism Tantra, Pre/post-natal Yoga and Embodied Flow Yin Yoga.

Laura is particularly drawn to working in Women's Health and Somatics; which has also led her to study Somatic Stress Release with Dr Scott Lyons, Yoga for Women's Health with Yoga Medicine, as well as Pelvic Floor Health.
Laura draws inspiration from her Embodied flow training, to curate classes that are invitational, invoking a sense of agency and flow, as well as promoting curiosity and exploration. With a particular interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Laura often draws on the elements and organs as a key touchstone in her classes. As a natural space holder, you can expect a safe, welcoming and nourishing class with Laura.

Julie van Renen

Julie loves the versatility of Pilates and its adaptability to every
individual body. She loves to see the positive effects Pilates has on
her clients, and enjoys assisting them on working towards their

When Julie is not teaching Pilates she works as a freelance Contemporary dancer and dance teacher. She is passionate about ‘Inclusive’ dance for all bodies and abilities and works as a dancer and dance teacher for
Touch Compass Dance Trust (Aotearoa’s foremost integrated
professional performance company).

Julie is also a mumma to her 3 year old daughter Atawhai.

Selina Gilbert

This connection grew deeper when she observed the valuable and enriching effects on her life ‘off the mat’ – physically, mentally, and emotionally. As a result, Selina completed a 2-year apprenticeship at the Auckland Yoga Academy, comprising 2,000 hours of intensive training in classes with real students, culminating in registration as a Yoga Alliance 500 hours yoga teacher (RYT 500 hours) in 2009. In January 2014, she gained accreditation as an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 200 hours).

Selina's classes will nourish your mind, body, and soul, and are suitable for a wide range of practitioners, from new beginners to advanced yogis, with a variety of options given during every class.

Yoga finds you when you are ready for it - I had a less than healthy 20’s lost in depression and anxiety and using recreational and prescription drugs to escape. This left me feeling like a zombie, powerless and disconnected from myself.

I didn’t know what Yoga was at first, but something called me to it. I was the only student in my first class wearing track pants and a baggy T-shirt, and the teacher, sensing what I needed, took me through a fast and vigorous yoga flow. It shifted my energy and created heat, (agni) the fire of transformation.

Laying in savasana at the end of class I felt a joyful release and relief wash over me, I felt like I had come home, and that I was now safe. From that point on I couldn’t get enough. I was beginning to transform and I wanted more.

Yoga took me on a journey towards self realization, igniting an alchemy of my soul through the heat of my physical practice. My body grew stronger taking me into shapes I never imagined possible, and shifting my perspective of myself. The insecure, destructive, lost me fell away uncovering the truth of who I was and how to accept all parts of me, the dark with the light.

The Yang, masculine aspects of yoga – a strong physical practice - shift energy and strengthen the body, and the Yin, feminine aspects of meditation and pranayama (breath) bring connection to the present moment. Together they create unity, which is the meaning of the word Yoga.

My passion is to share the potential of Yoga with people like you! People craving a deeper connection to themselves, a pathway to their authentic expression, personal power and freedom. The human experience is a tricky thing to navigate, it’s not always sunshine and lollipops. Yoga offers a system to help guide us through. My aim is to translate this in a very down to earth way, teaching ways to embody the full human experience, the shadow self and the light within. Our true power and freedom lies in embracing our whole selves, our humanness. When we understand this we unlock the door to our greatness.
